NYFW: Naeem Khan

This year, the New York based Indian-American designer, Naeem Khan’s show has attracted my attention. He was born and raised in Mumbai, and eventually moved to America as a teenager to become a fashion designer. Growing up, surrounded by culture, history and design, he gathered an expansive knowledge of textiles, with both his father and grandfather having designed intricate clothing for the royal families. He launched his began his career at 20 years of age, as an apprentice for the American designer Halston. Naturally, his time here taught him about the craft of working with fabrics. Eventually he was able to nurture his own style, and create his own aesthetic. He launched is first collection in 2003, and since then, as continued creating impeccable, luxurious and glamorous collections of dresses.

Here are some of the pieces from his show at this year's New York Fashion Week that I love.

I love the sophisticated glamour style he has created. Glamour is something that can very easily look tacky but he makes creates elegant glamorous dresses that are impeccably faultless. The looks also have a high element of drama and class, which I love. The silhouettes are absolutely gorgeous. I also love the styling he's chosen to go with, and the Gustav Klimt inspired hair.
